Toddler Beds

While on vacation Kiersten learned how to climb out of her pack and play. I am a huge ditz and I don't want the kids to try and and climb out of their cribs and fall and hurt themselves.
We got home on a Thursday evening so on Saturday I went to a garage sale and found a toddler bed for $50 but was able to talk them down to $25- Awesome!!
Saturday we assembled the one toddler bed we found on clearance for a super good price a few months ago. We let the kids play in their beds that afternoon while we unscrewed and took down their two cribs. They LOVED their new beds and played for more than an hour in there.

Kiersten's bed is SUPPOSED to the wood one and Bradley has the bed with Lightning McQueen.

Kiersten would not have that and was very adamant on having the cars bed. Bradley doesn't care too much and just wants to cuddle Kiersten.

The first night took one hour and 40 minutes. The kept jumping up and switching beds and playing with each other. Thank Heavens Tara was staying the weekend and helped me with it! The first hour was hysterical and I did the best I could not to give the kids eye contact or talk to them. I come out in the living room and Tara and I would laugh so hard at the silly things they would do for attention.
The last 4o minutes Tara stood in the corner of their room and would be silent and put them back in their bed when they jumped up. They finally gave up and went to sleep and slept all night.
The second night we took them to the park to wear them out. They fell right to sleep and we didn't have to go in their once! I of course couldn't stand not knowing where they were sleeping or what they were doing so I checked on them an hour later. This is what I found:
I took a picture and then Adam picked her up to put her back in bed.

Today's nap was a totally different story! Kiersten played the entire time and Bradley maybe got 30 minutes of sleep before Kiersten jumped on him and woke him up. After being in their room for 2 hours ( what a normal nap time runs) we let them out. Hopefully they sleep really good tonight since they skipped naps!

Tara visits Chico!

I FINALLY got Tara my best friend to visit us up in Chico! It only took three years!
We packed as much stuff as we could from Thursday to Monday morning.

We visited petco- AKA makeshift Monterrey Bay Aquarium

Played Wii golf and bowling for hours. Got her hooked on a game called Killer Bunnies.

TRIED to dance to her Zumba dvds. The kids lost the remote so we played a ridiculous game of country Just Dance instead. It was difficult! And then of course right after we find the remote.

Rode our bikes with the kids to Caper Acres and played for a while. Almost got lost trying a new bike path home....

And most importantly- she helped me keep my sanity the first night of toddler bed training. I'll tell more about that is my next post.

Trip to Modesto

Adam's cousin got married on June 18th. We went do to Modesto a few days before and stayed in the area with a few different people for the week.

Our first day down we stayed with our friends Adam and Vera. We had a fun game night and played several games until almost midnight.
The next day one of Vera's neighbors were selling jewelry and purses in front of her house like a garage sale. Soooo we went to check it out! The lady owned a boutique but had to go out of business and was selling everything ridiculously cheap! I bought three new necklace for $1 each!

The next day we went to a reunion for Adam's band fraternity where Bradley dropped someone's cell phone down into the porch.
Oy vey... I finally phished it out with a serving fork and spoon. Thank goodness!

We stayed with Adam's Mom for a few days and went to the wedding. We don't have any pictures of the wedding but here is one of the kids swimming in a kiddie pool at Grandma Porters.

We stayed in an RV at their house and one night Bradly was just crying and crying on the monitor. I went out the the RV to check why and Kiersten had learned to climb in and out of her pack and play. She had been taunting Bradley because his pack and player was taller and he couldn't get out. She was running back a forth all of the rv. Trouble maker! Well I guess it Toddler bed training time when we get home!

The last place we stayed was at our Friends Tom and Laurie. I am happy to say I got Laurie hooked on my favorite show Drop Dead Diva : )
Wednesday I had a girls night with 4 friends from High School and we played Just Dance 2 and ate pizza.
We had a great week but are glad to be home!

18?

Sesame street is a big hit at our house. Their favorite monster besides the obvious Elmo is Count von Count. Both kids love to copy his laugh and its really funny. The other day I was showing Bradley a Sesame street podcast about the number one. I kept trying to get him to say "one" but every time I said- "Bradley say ONE" he would laugh, point to the number and say "eighteen!" No matter how many times I said one his response was always 18. I have no clue where he learned that number. Maybe he's ready to grow up and be 18?

Its Swim time

This week we rode our bikes to the gym and took the kids swimming. Bradley is just like his daddy and doesn't like to swim. Both of our eyes are closed but it totally describes how he feels about the water.

Kiersten is a natural and loves to swim. She kicks and splashes really well. a few times I have put just Bradley in the daycare and got some mommy and me time alone with Kiersten in the pool swimming.

Its begining to feel a lot like summer!

Kiersten loves to wear her shades lately. Today she didn't want to take them off when we got to church so she pranced around the chapel before church started looking oh so adorable in her shades. Sometimes she will put them on upside down when she plays with them.

Bradley wanted to look like a stud muffin too so he got a chance to put the glasses on. This picture is priceless!

Frisbee Golf

We played Frisbee golf with some friends a few weeks ago and we had a really good time! Even the kids picked up the Frisbees a little and threw them. After we played a round we took the kids to the park right next to the field and let them run around. Our friends brought their parents dog and the kids loved playing with her. Here is an awesome picture of the dog and Bradley colliding.

Butte County fair

We went to the fair a few ago and the kids had a great time! We couldn't go on the rides yet so we spent most of our time looking at the baby farm animals, enjoying a concert, and even went to a little bit of destruction derby.

Kiersten loved all of the animals and Bradley could care less. I took her out of the stroller while Adam and Bradley kept walking around. We went to look at the baby goats first and she would not go near them (made her Poppy proud). Next we saw the piglets and she kept saying "was daaaat? was daaaaat?" she tried to pet one but they were a little to far away on the other side of the fence.

After we were done with the animals we still had an hour to waste before the derby so we bought a GINORMOUS bag of kettle corn and listened to a concert. The kids loved dancing to the music and they were hilarious to watch. It was really windy so my video clips didn't turn out to great.

Bradley's favorite part was the destruction derby. He jumped up and down and screamed at all the cars. Mostly gibberish but a lot of "GO! GO! GO!"It was really noisy ad getting late so we left after the first heat.

His close second favorite was a bag of kettle corn that was almost as tall as he was!
